I had a little time on my hands and I was curious to see the standard 
for steel toe boots.  OSHA and ANSI (two gov't safety standard 
agencies) were very hard to navigate and find anything useful on, but 
I did find a page from Gemplers (a "workwear" supplier) that gave a 
breif and understandable description:
