Re: [RC] minimum age for kids? - Sisu West RanchHeidi's stories of competent kids reminded me of a kid I saw in the 70's.I was sitting by my camper when a father and a 5 yr old girl on a pony went by. I noticed that the 5 yr old had spurs and a crop. I thought that the dad must be an idiot to let a girl that young have them. At that instant the pony decided it didn't want to leave camp. The dad continued. The girl put the spurs to the pony. It reared and bucked. She stuck with the pony, hit it on the rump a couple of times with the crop and down the trail she went. I then realized that the dad knew the ability of the little girl. She is now a 30 something woman, married to a farrier, and can still ride justabout any horse.
