Hmmm....It would be interesting to know how many Endurance Riders who
consistently win or Top Ten 100 mile rides feed fat. I have some SERIOUS
problems with this statement in the article:
"You do have to make sure there's enough
carbohydrate in the diet, too," he says. "The combination of grains
and fats should make up half the total diet, by weight, or even a little more,
if you're feeding a horse who's really working hard."
No way I'm feeding MY horses half their diet in
grain and fat. This just makes no sense to me with regard to their long term
good health and all the down side issues with a lot of grain.
I would have to see a LOT of PRACTICAL studies on actual
competing Endurance horses before I would even consider this.
