[RC] Hidaya El Ansu - Betty EdgarThank you, Maryanne. I was hoping you'd see my post and respond. Hidaya is pronounced with a short i (Hid 'a ya). She is truly a gift to me. Betty Hidaya is one of the possible spellings of the Arabic word for gift. That is the most likely meaning for it. We also have a bird of prey called a Hedaiya (pronounced Head eye a), but that is less likely. The problem is that the subtleties of pronunciation are totally lost in transliteration (the changing of Arabic letters for English). I'd like to learn what I can about it since Hidaya El Ansu is the name of my new mare who is meant to be my next endurance horse. It's been a very long dry spell for me while searching for the right endurance horse after retiring Dez in 2000. He's now 22 and still enjoying camping and exploring new mountain trails.
