Re: [RC] Arabian Horse Conformation - heidiHello all. Recently given a 3/4 Arabian mare. I do not know much about the breed....She seems to ahave a rather large forehead that buldges out. Not a really dishy face at all. Is this considered a conformation fault. This is actually more "classic" conformation than a dish. The breed standard calls for either a flat profile or a slightly concave profile, and the bulge or "jibbah" is what originally gave the impression of a dished face in the old-time horses. So although you don't see good jibbahs all that often anymore, you might actually say that your mare's conformation is MORE "typey" than an extreme dish! :-) As for the head being a "conformation fault"--the only way a head can really constitute faulty conformation is if it is either out of balance with the rest of the body or not properly articulated onto the neck to provide for flexibility of the poll. :-) Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
