[RC] synthetic shoes - KKMoonshadowrnch

I tried the synthetic shoes and really liked them for conditioning, but found
that for the longer distances of >50 miles they really started to tear up my
horses feet. And he has always had really great feet. A farrier that I used
in OR (when I couldn't stand it anymore at a ride and said please put steel on
his feet that look like S*#t) who shoes a lot of endurance says that when you
nail them on, there just ends up being too much movement between the hoof and
nails and ends up weakening the hooves with all the miles that we put on.
That's certainly what I found to be true. I did like the idea of lessening the
concussion. Still contemplating doing something different. Maybe boots? I've
not been impressed with any of the boots out there yet, (except the Marquis
that are way too expensive for my pocketbook) Hoping that I will like the new
Epics when they come out.
