RE: [RC] Feeding Questions - Val NicosonWant to apologize to everyone on RC...hay/forages is THE most important thing in a horse's diet and they DID emphasize that at the seminar. Being a dressage person she even encouraged turnout of those expensive horses...even her own are. She emphasized the importance of grass hay over the primary alfalfa that's fed to most of these horses too. Granted, some alfalfa is OK but not 100%. My focus was on the primary soaking of various feedstuff and I overlooked that I should have mentioned that hays/forages were highly pushed. Thanks folks for the replies I've received both public and private, Val --- heidi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: Essentially Beet Pulp (yeah!), flax, plain oats or barley and a chelated one-a-day vitamin/mineral supplement. No arguments there, assuming there's some foragebeing provided as well. Ditto what Susan said, but wanted to emphasize that this was the FIRST thing that jumped out at me in the original post... The hay/forage is THE singlemost important component of the diet, and it apparently isn't mentioned... Heidi __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - You care about security.
