RE: [RC] any sugestions?? - Linda CowlesHi folks, Vicki copied the email I sent to her privately to RideCamp. I apologize for involving RideCamp in this; Vicki volunteered to send a sample of her microfleece tights (I expected a small parcel) and she shipped what she told me later was $800 worth of merchandise in two boxes that arrived Christmas week. She didn't send the microfleece tights I'd inquired about; she sent an assortment of things, mostly off-season stuff. She had said I could purchase, consign or return what she sent. Her shipment cost her a lot to ship (the second box alone cost at least $29 to send), I let her know that I couldn't price it to sell at a profit, and she had said consigning it was okay so I tried consigning it with no markup to save her the return postage. None of it sold. My laptop died over the Christmas holidays, so I didn't get her 1/11 emailed request to return her merchandise immediately I let her know I'd gather it up, pack it and ship it back, and offered to use her card number to ship it back but she declined. I've suggested that she have UPS pick it up, since that is easy for both of us. I run a business and by the time I get to town it's long after the post office has closed. Life is full of lessons; I guess I needed to learn this one. Linda Cowles Horse 'N Hound New, Used & Consigned Tack & Stable Supplies 9155 N. DearRide Campers, I am so sorry this had to get in to ride camp. I made an honest inquiry for a problem that I was trying to keep private between Linda and me, I did't mention names or places or give much of any information. Linda, Since you saw fit to involve our good friends on ride camp I must reply. I did look over our original emails and I don't see where you got the idea I had GIVEN you the stuff. I sent it to you because you asked me to. No you did not order it, but asked to look. Don't know how you can look unless it is sent to you. I said I would send it free of charge (you didn't have to pay shipping) and that you could keep an item that you liked if you saw something that you personally liked (as a thanks for looking gift) If you took that as "I don't want it back" than why did you promise to "buy , sell or send it back"?? I sent the first box of (summer stuff) as I saw that you were in California and when you said you were interested in winter stuff as well I sent stuff for that as well. All in good faith!! Not quite true the things you have said. No I didn't care if you consigned them (isn't that part of your business?) or sold them at the price I had on them and charged me the consignment fee (isn't that also what you said you did for business?) How do you get out of that , that I don't want them back?? Return at your own convienance??? Do you really not go into town only about every six weeks or so?? I think maybe not. And it is no cost to you, since I told you I would pay to have returned to me the things you didn't want. Linda Cowles <kadence@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:You have VERY unusual business ethics! Would you like me to send you the copy of the email where you state that you don't care if these items are sold or consigned, that they have been around for a while and if I can't sell them than I can "keep them for myself or return them at my convenience"? Vicki, I didn't "order" any of this; I was interested in micro fleece tights, let you know that and you sent me samples of everything but micro fleece. Rather than sending a "sample", you shipped two large boxes of merchandise that I couldn't sell. Why do you want to blow this out of proportion this way and take it public to RideCamp? I'll take pictures of this "quality merchandise". My expectation of someone who claims to have a business that's operated for 30+ years was to manage this sort of thing PROFESSIONALLY. I've gotten samples before, and it's been one or two items with the return postage guaranteed. Please send UPS out for a pick up. Hey ridecampers, some of you sew for a living (like me). I ahve come across a situation that I have never have before. What would you do in this situation?? I would appreciate any suggestions as I am out of ideas. First let me begin by saying I send good selections of my Vicki's Handmades all over the country and Canada (at their request of course) to tack shops and to private people to view and buy if they want with the understanding that they send anything back they do not want for whatever reason. (I usually also tell them if there is something they personally like they may keep it as a "thank you for looking" gift. Even when someone orders something specifically I tell them if they are not happy with it to send it back and I will either change it or send their money back ,whichever they prefer. I can always put it on the shelf. I have done this for 30+ years with no problems. With out any names of course I will tell you what has happened. The week before Christmas I came in contact with a "tack shop" person who wanted to see my handmade stuff saying that they like to support people who hand make clothing for horses and people. I sent them summer and winter selections, amounting to approximately $800. from the shelf of my work studio. I waited a couple of weeks (I was busy with family at xmas time) and then contacted the tack shop wondering if my stuff even got there (I insure all that I send out so if it gets lost I am not out many $). I had to contact twice before they even answered back to which they said they weren't able to use any of what I sent and would send it back. I have yet to get it back!!!! I have contacted them over and over again and even said I would PAY to have it shipped back to me (which I have never had to do before) I have waited almost six weeks and have customers who had seen some of the items when they visited my studio before but waited till first of Jan to tell me they wanted them and are waiting for them to be sent back. Since it was supposed to be back "any day" I told them that instead of saying "sorry it has been sold" They don't want a substitute, only those particular items. What would you do???? Thanks in advance!!! Vicki __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free web site building tool.
