Re: [RC] RE:loose dogs - Carol Stiles

Steph,
I wouldn't discourage that. It's a good defense mechanism in case she ever gets attacked by a dog. I have a horse like that and now I don't worry about stray dogs or coyotes wandering into my pasture because I know Cosmo will kill them or chase them off.

So what's the general solution for a dog agressive horse? My dog and I both dislike most dogs, her to the point of stomping, kicking, biting, throwing, whatever works easiest to shut them up. At the one ride we went to she got hold of a Jack Russell in her pen and threw him a good ways... Didn't go over very well with it's owner >ggg<  Although we're not competing this season she'll probably go to some rides with me and my riding buddy just for fun (hers, not mine).

But Truman... we're having sooo much fun! A braying mule should be acceptable because without the mule you can't do the ride. But you don't need a dog in order to do the ride. I think it would be fun to take a paint ball gun to a ride and shoot all the loose dogs. : )
