RE: [RC] [RC] ? EPM - MerrybenMy horse, Rushcreek Olson, died in July of 1989, long before we knew about EPM. He was staggering and showed a lot of neurological problems and my vet came up and said take him to Davis. We went straight there and he was there for five days. He was on large doses of steroids and would be fine and then they would take him off and he would be down again. When I talked to the vet taking care of him he said that he just did not know how to treat the horse cause they did not have a clue what was wrong with him. He was euthanized then. The university tested his feed and water and hay and could find nothing. They did their usual teaching process complete necropsy and found nothing. Years later I was talking to my vet about it and she asked me what year it was and when I told her said it was probably EPM cause that was before they knew about it....mb =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
