RE: [RC] EPM - Stewart, CarrieWow Julie, that was very heartfelt and an awesome answer. I will second everything that she said. EPM is horrible disease and one I would never wish upon any horse or owner. I believe that some horses can be fully recovered and that some will never be free of the disease. Some will be re-infected and some will seem to be better and will relapse after months/years. There are just so many unanswered questions with EPM. As one owner of an EPM horse to another, be patient and understanding with your horse. When you both feel you can go out and conquer the world again, do so but always keep an eye out for any abnormalities that might crop up again and jump on them before they get a chance to get out of control. Carrie and Saint (rehabbed EPM horse of 2 years post diagnosis) To train a horse you have to be smarter than the horse. With Arabians, fewer people qualify. http://www.equinesolutionsnetwork.org From: Julie Fuller Subject: [RC] EPM Laurie, As someone who had a horse with (possible) EPM before anyone had heard of it, I understand and sympathize with your frustration.... It sounds as if your horse is doing pretty good..... and I would suggest you go ahead and start conditioning him and enjoying him. Of course, you can still look for a definitive answer to your questions, but be prepared for a big maybe. Life is like that sometimes. In the meantime, Ride! Good luck, and my thoughts are with you.
