[RC] Back in the saddle - Agilbxr

Just had to share with everyone....

I had arthroscopic knee surgery 2 weeks ago to remove some torn cartelidge and
clean up a knee that was kicked by a horse last year. Thursday I was given
permission to ride. (ok, his comment was if you can get on the horse, you can
ride it...never tell that to a true horse person. I think he thought I wouldn't
be able to get on.)

I rode for 2 hours or so, walk, corto, canter PAIN FREE! I haven't ridden pain
free for a year! I had the urge to keep on trucking, but my horse informed me
that we were close to home, and if I didn't mind, there was hay out there that
needed eating. Woo Hoo....

Yes, I am still bouncing off the walls, and would go back out and ride if I
didn't have to work tonight. Darn it.

Anyway, just wanted to share. For the person with the damaged foot, 2nd
opinions are great. My primary care dr (love those hmo's) told me when I
injured the knee originally it was sprained, and it would heal. I heard this
for 6 months, and was told that I didn't need to go to an orthopedist. In
november (11 months later), I went back and said it still hurt. I was told
that I now had patellar femoral syndrom because I was overweight. I demanded a
referral, and have now found out I have permanent bone damage to that
"sprained" knee. Basically, I'm looking at a total knee replacement in 10
years. (blah! good thing I ride a Paso). get a 2nd opinion, if nothing else,
it won't hurt anything.

Juli and Alpine (goody...she feels up to riding loooong distances again!)
