Re: [RC] Just curious about LD's entry price - heidiHere's my question. For those RMs who charge the same for LD and 50; do you feel it encourages an LD rider to take the jump up to doing the 50? I've actually tended to take the opposite attitude--which is that a slightly lower entry fee on the LD helps to get people hooked on the sport. Once they're "in the door," the additional few dollars to enter the 50 is less of an issue for most. I've never offered LDs at "half the price" since one simply can't afford to do that--but I usually did offer them at less than what the difference in the award cost was, so in a sense, I was subsidizing the LD with the longer distances. But I found that it worked, it got people started, and once there and DOING LDs, then encouragement from ride vets, management, and other riders was usually enough to get them psyched about "moving up" to 50s.
