RE: [RC] [RC] Just curious about LD's entry price - Nancy MittsJody,The answer is because ride managers figured out it costs nearly as much to"service" 25 mile riders as 50's. I'm filling out my Turkey Trot paperwork now. AERC charges the same no matter what distance. I provided a meal this year, and I didn't see LDers eating only 1/2 as much. I spend nearly the same on awards. The only difference might be some rides could hire an extra vet for only 1/2 day, leaving after the LD is over. But, I'm not sure it would be that much less, since you've already shot their day and the travel & housing expenses would be the same. So, it just makes sense they should pay almost as much. That's my my story & I'm stickin to it! Nancy Mitts PINEVILLE Turkey Trot From: Jody Rogers-Buttram <dragnin100@xxxxxxxxx>But, as I was looking at the upcoming rides here in the SE region, I noticed that it costs nearly as much or in some cases as much to enter the LD as to enter the 50. Why is that? Does this happen in other regions or just here? I have never done LD's (maybe shouldn't have said that here) I am just not familiar with the current pricing. A long time ago, back in the 70's and 80's, if I remember right, they were usually around half of the price of the 50. I mean it is half the distance, half the fun, should it not be half the price? Do you people out there that ride only LD feel like that is fair? (Ok, I just started a stink on RC with that statement.) Well, food for thought. Maybe the backlash won't be too bad.. :)) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
