For your feet...do not use cotton socks, they hold moisture. My
choice is 100% wool, either two light pairs or one heavy. I buy my winter
boots a size larger to accommodate the thicker socks and also to give my
toes lots of wiggle room. Last year I bought a pair of Muck Boots, and
wore them with one pair thick ragg wool socks, and my feet stayed warm for the 6
or 7 hours I spend doing chores at all the barns on my route, even when it was
well below zero. Another option is the Sorel-type boots with removable
felt liners. Get two pairs of liners and switch them every other
day. For your hands...I get Thinsulate work gloves a size or two larger,
and put those "silver" liners in them. I also use the Grabber Mycoal heat
packs. They're little packets that heat up when exposed to air. I
put them between the glove and liner kind of up over my knuckles. They
last for about 8 hours. You can also get them for your feet.

gotta be mucked!)
