Re: [RC] [RC] [AERCMembersForum] 100 mile rides 50 & 25,30,40 etc. - heidi50 miles you aren't a "real" rider, how many times have I read that ANYONE can do 25 miles??? I agree Chrystal! I am just getting my young horse conditioned (he will be 5 next year). Aw, play fair now. The rules define endurance riding as 50 miles and up. None of us debate whether you are a "real" rider or whether or not you "endure" doing LD--but the sport has to have a defining line somewhere, and that line is 50 miles. I've "endured" some LDs in my life that have been real challenges--one of the most painful being trying to get back into the sport after several health problems, and doing an LD a month after recovering from bacterial meningitis. I've done 100s in my younger years that were a walk in the park compared to that LD. And we all applaud all those who come out and ride despite hardships and handicaps, whatever those may be. So even if you are not doing distances that are "endurance rides" you are still a part of the "endurance family" if you are out riding.
