Re: [RC] [RC] heart rates for standardbreds - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Kirsten Seyferth scatris@xxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Diane, I'm not a subscriber either, just surfing the archives ones in while, so I can't see your email address and therefore I'm replying to you via the list. I had posted a couple of weeks ago to ridecamp about my experience with my Standardbred mare. Her working heartrate was quiet a bit higher than what I'm used to from my arabs. At a cruising trot she'd be somewhere in the 140-155 range, but her recoveries were actually very good. She'd usually come down to 60 bpm within a couple of minutes. I never cantered her in endurance, it just wasn't her gait. She'd throw herself to much forward and it would really drive her heartrate up - a waste of energy.
