[RC] RC] competing gaited horses - ponyexpressAfter training our Paso for long distance, I found he would get footsore. Though it wouldn't appear as though he were lame or "off" when evaluating him, I would find he would be more hesitant to move out when going downhill or over rocks when conditioning. Their impact is just different then non gaited horses, and it would be wise to pay special attention to those factors as it is more difficult to determine lameness or soreness on a gaited horse. Though he was certainly the most comfortable horse I've ever ridden, and had lots of forward interest in addition to having the kindest disposition. Our "Hombre de Oro" was one of the finest horses I've ever known.
