[RC] Starting Young Horse - finally! - Kari HanesTonight I rode my young 4 year old for the third time with a saddle. He's doing fine with Hubby leading him. Next time I may even go solo in the paddock. It is such a treat to finally ride this guy after watching him grow from a foal. I've been on him bareback several times over the summer and he's taking the saddle real well. I'm hoping to do an LD with him in the spring, maybe White River in May. I'm using a sidepull and an old western saddle for now. I had him gelded in September and it helped with his attitude alot. I have some concerns about keeping him in training as the weather turns nasty this winter. Without an indoor arena, it's hard to keep riding once the snow flies. I also want to move him up to 50's as soon as I can. I have only ridden LDs in the past with my part arab mare. How many LDs do you all recommend before you move up? He's a Polish line purebred. I just had to share - I am very excited about this youngster and hope to see you all at rides in 2005!Kari Hanes Montalee Arabians Holton, MI =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
