Re: [RC] Horse Blankets Buyer Beware - Mary SutliffYou don't say where you live but if the temps are in the 50 - 60 range (or even down to freezing) you probably could get by easily with just a rain sheet. Look for one with a poly mesh lining and at least 1200 denier shell. Dover has their Riders Turnout Sheets on sale in their lastest catalog for $85. Item #6B-Q2427. I have had one of these for 3 years & it's held up well. It can be washed & dried in your home machine if you don't mind the straps banging. I send it out now and then to be rewaterproofed. For a heavier winter blanket I bought the ones from Mary Coleman. They are warm, waterproof and inexpensive. I rarely use them as I don't blanket my horses unless the weather gets really severe. Our 5 live outside & have access to the barn at will. I live in Western Washington where we know what real rain is! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
