RE: [RC] WEIGHT DIVISIONS - Jim HollandIMHO, it should NOT matter...the rider weight should be the only criteria. Consistency and "fairness" is the rationale. Like everything else, what you choose to carry, what saddle you choose to ride in, or what clothing you wear is a CHOICE. (To some extent, how much you WEIGH is a choice!) <grin> Jim, Sun of Dimanche+, and Mahada Magic -----Original Message----- From: ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ridecamp- owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of rides2far@xxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, November 01, 2004 6:03 PM To: flash_cupid@xxxxxxxxx Cc: glenn218@xxxxxxxxx; jlong@xxxxxxxx; ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [RC] WEIGHT DIVISIONSAfter reading many peoples comments. I feel just weigh the rider and the rider's clothing. Don't worry about saddles since so many people have different tastes in Saddles.Other than people suddenly saying that's what they'd like to do...what's the rational? Either weight matters or it doesn't. If the tack adds 40 lbs, the horse is carrying an extra 40 lbs. If anything saddle weight is more consistant that rider weight since it stays on the horse whether the rider gets off or not. If a Wintec weighs 7 lbs. and an antique OF weighs 35 that matters as much as one rider weighing 190 and another weighing 118...a weight division worth. Either weight matters or it doesn't.
