Re: [RC] weight - heidi15 pounds sounds a little high, but it is not uncommon for a catcher in a baseball day game in the Aug to lose that much. That's why catchers seldom play both ends of a double hitter. That being said it's really the percentage of the body weight that is the issue - not total weight. I suspect it would not be uncommon for a 325 pound NFL offensive lineman to lose 25 pounds during the training camps in August in FL. But if someone as petite as you or Angie lost 25 pounds in a day, you'd be dead. Truman, you're correct that one has to figure the weight loss as a percentage of body size to determine its importance. That said, I'd still submit that due to the nature of the sport, the catcher and the lineman don't eat (or eat much) during the course of the game. And the duration of a football game is nowhere near the duration of a 100-mile ride, either--not eating for 3 hours is a far cry from not eating for 12 or 14 or more hours.
