Re: [RC] [RC] molasses & beet pulp - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Nicole z_arabs@xxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Wouldn't dried beet pulp, molasses free, still have some pigment in it? Maybe that's what you're seeing go down the drain. I'd like to know if by rinsing there are nutrients also being washed out. Thoughts? Hi Lif, I'd say that's a valid concern. I started rinsing it on the advice -- posted here on RC I believe -- of Dr. Susan Garlinghouse; her comments were specifically for the IR, laminitic, or Cushings horse I believe. Since Susan was the person who first got me started feeding beet pulp through her articles years ago, I figured I would be safe continuing to follow her advice. I think I'd rather risk wash nutrients down the drain than risk giving sugar to this particular horse. For all my others (I feed beet pulp to 7 horses of my own, plus one boarded horse) I don't rinse. I don't think the small amount of sugar (molasses or beet sugar that should have been removed during the sugar processing) is a problem for normal healthy horses. ~Nicole =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
