And probably work at a significantly higher wage than many of the local 
factories can afford to pay and in better conditions. The polo shirt 
that I was given at the 2001 Pan Ams said "Made in Egypt" on the collar 
and I got a good laugh out of it. Outsourcing of manufacture actually 
does benefit the poorer countries where it is done as local factories 
often have to upgrade to compete for workers.  We make a lot of the 
carpets, towels, sheets, and clothing that are sold in Europe and the 
US...and we do get to buy them cheaper here although many times they 
are the seconds, lower quality, but who cares?
