[RC] Olenanders - Nat Nelson<<Makes one wonder what legal rights a rancher might have in a situation like that....>> We let our neighbors know just how poisonous oleanders are to mammals - including humans - when injested. I had one nieghbor who wanted to plant them on our property line. I told her that if it killed one of my horses she would be liable to pay for the value of the horse and since I run a breeding operation she would also be liable for the value of possible offspring he/she could of had. She still wanted to plant them. So I called the livestock board and the livestock officer explained to her the liability of planting such a dangerous plant. Well she started planting them anyways and I called the sherrif and she told my nieghbor that since she was informed of the liability issues and the legitamate concern of livestock's welfare that she would be arrested for malicious intent if she continued planting the oleanders.
