Rides are what one makes of them whether endurance
or competitive. I do not like NATRAC rules, put up with UMECRA comp rules,
but the ride is my ride no matter what rules I ride under and I decide what pace
the horse and I will do. Even though comp is more judgmental it also tends
to be more even as comp riders are not allowed to have crews. Many
times no water is allowed at vet checks either. So one learns how 'to
play the game' to do the best one can. I really don't mind whether I ride
comp or end, miles are miles no matter what. We are blessed in the
midwest, we have rides both Sat and Sun. So when I go to a ride, I can
ride both Sat and Sun, get somewhere between a total of 50 to 75 miles, whatever
I choose to do. Kinda like those 25s, back to camp, shower, rest, EAT ICE
CREAM, and visit. Jeanie
