Re: [RC] DAL Election/Joe Schoech - Truman Prevatt
Joe has been instrumental in endurance in the SE region. He and Tamra
have honed the "new riders meeting" to a fine presentation - one that
should be a model for the entire AERC. Joe was an active trail advocate
before in became popular to be a trail advocate. Joe literally got SE
riders a new venue for rides. We had lost our trails for endurance
rides in the Talladega NF some years back. Joe worked with the FS and
with some funding from SERA he, Sara Engsberg, a.k.a. chainsaw momma,
and the rangers put in 14 miles of new ecologically sound sustainable
trails including 5 bridges and we now have a three day ride in
Talladege. This was done in the days prior to the AERC trails grants
program. For this work SERA was presented an award by the Talladega NF
- but this award belongs to Joe and Sara.
Joe is a pioneer and a leader and a hard worker. For Joe the horse
comes first and mutual respect for all riders is what this sport is all
about.
I second Nina - don't vote for a name vote for a person.
I have to second Angie's vote for Joe! Joe is a
member of the LD committee and works very hard for the wishes of LD
riders. He has competed on a variety of breeds of horses. At every
ride he is at, he and Tamra do the pre ride briefing. He hauls the
horse scales to most rides. Has competed, traveled to other regions to
do rides. Is a major trails advocate. Working in part with Sarah
Engsberg and his wife Tamra to put on and improve trails in Tallageda.
The bridges that they and SERA helped build/finance are amazing. As is
his relationship with the forest people there. As you can tell, I
could go on and on.
Remember, do your research, just because you know someone's name, is
not necessarily a good reason to vote for them.
