I believe it was due to the amount of rain and the soil type. I live on the ridge above the parks and we received 4" of rain in 24 hours and a total of 5.30 inches in 3 days.
The soil has a high clay content and tends to get very slick and dangerous. Santa Clara Co Parks has a policy of closing the trails to Equestrians under wet conditions to protect both Horse and trails from injury or damage

Do you cancel rides just because it rains or was there damage to the trails? In TX, they still ride it and make a trail around the impassable areas. Mary Ann
