IF the person wants to pay with a cashier's check in excess of the price, then definitely it's a scam. However, I once bought a filly having only seen her in a picture and brief video, based upon her conformation and pedigree. So, be careful and check it out completely, but it's not necessarily a scam.

Common scam is to say they want the horse, but they will send a cashier's
check.  Usually, they send a cashier's check for 2 or 3 thousand above the
asking price, and ask you to cash it, and send the remainder to their
"shipper".

Of course, the check is bogus, and you end up eating the loss.

The horse never leaves, they don't really want it.

If you want to test to see if it is the scam, write back.  Say something
like "I am so glad to find a purchaser for my car!!".

If they don't seem to notice that all of a sudden you are selling a car,
well, it is a scammer.

Hello everyone, I recently placed an advertisement on Endurance.net
classifieds to sell my mare, and I've received a reply from someone who's
willing to purchase her sight unseen and without even bartering on the
price... Normally I'd be elated, but my mare is very dear to me, and I want
to ensure she goes to a good home.

His offer seems somewhat unorthodox to me... I was wondering if anyone has
ever heard of this person or if there are some scams going around that I'm
not aware of.
