[RC] Unsolicited E-mail (was: Hit piece from Eric Drew) - katswig@xxxxxxxxxxxxxLynne Glazer said: As someone who received it from both ridecamp and in private mail, I support anyone's right to speak their piece--but something so controversial AND off-topic has no place on ridecamp IMHO. ... I suspect it was a simple "send all" from her address book--and not realizing that the group "ridecamp" was part of that. Given that it didn't end up in the ridecamp archives and a great many people on ridecamp did not receive it; it wouldn't surprise me in the least that it was neither composed by Advantage Saddles nor sent by the individual, but rather some unknown third party hijacked her address book, ghosted the address, and sent it out as a "spam/virus" of some sort which was filtered out both by the Ridecamp screening system and many other people's "spam" blockers. Personally, I consider it pretty safe to assume that any unwanted, unsolicited e-mail was not originated by the person under whose name appears in the sender line, and therefore am loathe to form any opinions about this sender based on it, if it happens to be from a person I know. If I know them well, I may privately warn them that somebody may be hijacking their address and address book (but I don't do this for everybody). I will leave it to others to decide whether, if this is the case, just who the actual sender may or may not be and who they may or may not politically support, since its purpose may have been to piss off recipients. Far wiser not to allow the senders of spam (no matter who you think they might be, or what you think their agendas might be) to affect your opinions or behaviour at all. The best response to unsolicited, unwanted e-mail is to ignore it entirely, since any other response is likely to be misdirected and, as was the case here, to add to the amount of unsolicited e-mail and increase the number of recipients. kat Orange County, Calif. -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ . =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
