Re: [RC] [RC-Digest] Vol: 03.1980 - heidiBut when such a high percentage of errors happen at any given ride, I think we have to look for common denominators at the ride that would cause otherwise fairly knowledgeable riders to make a variety of errors. Then IMO we need to look long and hard at the Tevis since I have heard many times that horses were "standing everywhere on jugs" Again, look at the percentages. With roughly 240 starting riders, there would have to have been nearly 50 horses on jugs at Tevis to approach the same percentage. I point out that you are in favor of going back to the old system on choosing a National Champion and are therefore biased against the current system. Just trying to put all comments into perspective. Susan, the REASON I am in favor of the old system is because of the flaws in the new one. That is not bias--it is observation of how both systems have operated, and logical conclusions based upon what I've observed. Some presaged that the lack of interest and the problems would happen--and indeed they have.
