I will never forget seeing Doc for the first time at my first
endurance ride (50, that is) Eastern High Sierra Classic.
There Doc was in his portable pen, already a legend. It was the
night before the ride, and he was lying down, front legs tucked under,
calmly and regally accepting tribute from all of us admiring his sang froid and
stunning pure black good looks....
The other thing I have so admired about Doc in running into him at rides
were his exquisite manners. None of this "watch out" (or worse, "stay
back") "he's a stallion." More like if you didn't know already, you
wouldn't even know.... (Of course that says a lot about owner Cherie Briscoe as
well!)
The # 1 endurance stallion in the universe goes to live with God and the
best ride camp can deal with is Jr's and Bee',s Come on Guys you must
have competed against him, Cherri or Lori, stories
