Sorry you had trouble with mounting with the
treeless. A lot of people have written about that. I think that most
people mount with their stirrup hanging alongside the horse's loins.
Therefore when weight is put into the stirrup the stirrup moves under the
stomach of the horse and the weight from the rider tends to pull the saddle over
unless held in place by the withers. With the treeless saddle, since the
saddle itself is so flexible, it doesn't get held in place by the withers.
So what to do about that? Recently after reading about the problems that
people were having mounting I started to look at how I mount and frankly I don't
do it that way. Actually the way I mount might look goofy but it
works. I place my foot in the stirrup and place the stirrup and my foot
forward and brace it against my horses front leg so that when my weight goes
into the stirrup it presses against his leg and gives me leverage to get up
without pulling the saddle over. My left hand is grabbing mane and my
right hand when I bounce up pushes against my horses' butt or the back of the
saddle to help push my butt over. I never pull on the saddle or overboard
it goes.
I was glad to hear you enjoyed the experience of
the Barefoot Saddle once you got up there. All of my customers have loved
the ride they get in this saddle.
