[RC] Juniors and riding with sponsors - k s swigartKristin Fisher said: Actually Rule 10.4 says: 10.4 The sponsor must be a competent adult (21 years or older) and must be duly entered as a competitor in the event and sponsorship must be documented on the Junior entry form complete with sponsor signature, at the time sponsorship begins. However Rule 10.4.1.2 says: 10.4.1.2 In the event of an emergency and in order to remain in competition, the Junior who is in last place and whose pre-registered sponsor is pulled, and there are no other qualified sponsors to follow, the Junior may be sponsored by an un-entered qualified rider through the completion of the ride, with ride management and ride veterinarian approval. He would receive last place junior points. This emergency sponsor will receive no credit for mileage or points. The Junior may also be sponsored by an adult on foot from the last veterinary check with the approval of ride management. So Maryben was right about juniors being allowed to continue with an un-entered adult, but only if the junior is in last place for juniors and there is no qualfied sponsor available that IS entered in the ride (one presumes that one of the qualifications of a sponsor is parental approval of the individual). kat Orange County, Calif. ----- Original Message ----- From: Merryben@xxxxxxx To: ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, October 08, 2004 7:26 PM Subject: Re: [RC] juniors and riding with sponsors In a message dated 10/8/2004 5:15:31 PM Central Daylight Time, tracey.smith@xxxxxxxxxxxxx writes: . But how would that work in endurance? Juniors can go on with another sponsor. Actually, if someone is willing to ride with the junior a non entered person can go on with the junior to the finish line. Of course the adult gets nothing in the way of points or mileage but the undying gratitude of a kid who gets to finish the ride....mb =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
