Re: [RC] I need advice picking up feet - Ed & Wendy HauserThis is similar to what I have always done. The only time it has backfired was one time when my old gelding had some funny thing on his foot. Without thinking, I bent over to look. It must have seemed to him that I wanted his foot, so he raised it, hitting me right between the eyes! It was not a kick, he just was anticipating the command "give it here" that I use. That taught me to pick up feet when I needed to look at them. I do agree that in actuality, the horse picks up his feet, you don't.
