OH! I figured out what kind of mount we're talking about. Here I was thinking you guys were talking about the kind where they run up from behind, plant hands on the rump, and kinda leapfrog up. For bareback mount from the ground, I can sort of still do it, but my height limit is now sub-15 hands (I'm 5'2"). I grab a handful of mane in each hand, stand facing the back of the horse, kinda run, jump, bounce, while swinging my right leg up, hook my right knee over the spine, and then scramble up. It's extremely ugly to watch, I'm sure. And it takes a patient horse. With at least some withers to hook my knee over.... I used to be able to do this with 15.1+ horses.
