[RC] re:Walkers in Endurance - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Natalie Herman aylisha@xxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== If you want to know about Walkers...or other gaited(north american breed types)horses in endurance, go to the main page of this site and find Amber Applegate's website...she breeds gaited horse specifically fopr endurance, and I'll be doing Tevis on one her boys in a few years (we are in training right now with him doing 50's and such). He is part Walker and part Rocky Mtn. I am also working on getting a friend's horse ready for endurance, and he is a register Racking Horse (but we were told he is a bred Walker). He is in "psych training" right now though, as he has SERIOUS past abuse issues from where he came from in the South. But man, when he gets through his issues, he is going to ROCK on the endurance trail, ESP multi-days...he is like the energizer bunny...keeps going nad going and going...SMOOTHLY and CALMLY I might add:) So if you can find a good trail(or better yet, endurance) bred walker, then go for it:) Natalie (who up until now has been lurking) Oh, btw, both Amber and I are in in the NW, and most her breeding stock comes from Canada, so you won't HAVE to look only in the South for quality gaited horses, though there are plenty there as well, of course:) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
