In terms of the inflated prices for show horses, yes. Not sure this is as much of a big deal with the mid-priced riding horses yse i think there is a direct correlation since those with the bucks will go for the 'higher quality" hroses, when such quality is too often estimated by the reputation of the trainer or even worse, the show record of a parent. Wonder how many people really believe show records are genetic:) S You all too often get what you pay for--but in the case of the horses with the inflated prices in the show barns, you are buying the name and the reputation, not the horse. It is amazing how a horse "of Wayne Newton's" (just to give one example) loses so much value in the next sale, when the next buyer can no longer say that he bought the horse from Wayne Newton. The initial buyer was buying the feely-good of having rubbed elbows with a star, not buying a horse that was actually worth the purchase price. Same goes for buying into an ad campaign. You bought the glory--but glory is not genetic. Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
