RE: [RC] [RC] Dead animals in feed - heidiIt's not the dead bodies ,it's the dead bodies with a lack of air in the decomposition.. Tightly bound hay with no air... Laurie's right here. Another risk is feeding hay that has built up in tight layers on a floor. Had a friend lose several horses to botulism after he had a flood in his barn and he fed the wet stuff on the bottom to get it out of there before it molded. (BTW, Skyla, the most common "bodies" that we find in hay in this area are rattlesnakes... In keeping with a previous thread...)
