Re: [RC] Winter Hair - Aaron TurnageMy horse is starting to get pretty hairy right now too. We live in the high desert and it's been 40's at night but 80's during the day. He's a non-Arab and really puts the hair on. In fact, he won the "Hairy Horse" award at our local schooling show last spring. That was AFTER being blanketed from Oct on. Last year, I did a modified trace clip (bottom 1/2 of neck and front of chest) on him that seemed to work pretty well. It allowed for maximum cooling in those areas, but would not have required blanketing, although I did blanket him in an effort to keep the REST of his hair down. In fact, he's getting clipped tonight for a ride on Saturday. ~ Crysta & the very hairy Sinatra (is the hair on my legs supposed to curl like that?) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
