It's also in a natural form in Turkey. That's one reason you get a little sleepy after a turkey dinner. G.Affleck

I found the following on the website. I'm wondering about the ingredients...is L-tryptophan a calming thing? Is it a "drug"? Sounds *illegal* to me for some reason.....Anybody know? Susan, if you're not too busy DVMing, could you take a look? Thanks! :)

l-tryptophan is an amino acid and as such is in the category of a nutraceutical. It used to be in all the equine calming supplements (and in my experience, it was reasonably effective -- better than vitamin B-1) and available for humans too until quality control issues became an issue (http://www.howstuffworks.com/question519.htm).
