To try and keep weight on I mix a bit in when I can baby-sit my mare while she eats [so the other mares don't steal] and we make a mash at rides in case they would prefer that over their regular feed to keep them eating. I mixed a ton of water into it this past weekend and it was so soupy one of our mares would slurp some up, then drink some, then slurp - too funny. But she was eating! So we use it as a supplement rather than a mainstay.
