[RC] Hoof health/Farrier question - GoTory

My "rescue" mare has lost same shoe twice in the past month.  She has been on 
good, supportive nutrition since about last April, but was severely neglected 
the previous winter.  This winter's rains left her paddock a muddy mess the 
past month....
How long does it take good strong hoof to grow down to the nailing area?
She is getting 20 mg Biotin/day with other supplements as well.
Information/advice/recommendations would be most welcome!  Thanks!  nikki
