Re: [RC] First Refusal document??anyone - Bette LamoreHi LaurieThe only way I know that you can increase your odds that you will get the opportunity to buy your horse back should they ever decide to sell him is to have your names on his registration papers as well as theirs-- a "partnership" and that is no guarantee if they decide to sell without papers or if the horse is unregistered in the first place. You can write a first right of refusal buy back guarantee into the sales contract, but there is no real way of checking it unless you check for ownership with the registry (if registered) or happen to know the buyers/people personally. Just be sure that the people you are dealing with have integrity. If you are giving away the horse, I suppose you can ask for references-- worth a shot and you have nothing to lose. If they are good people, they shouldn't object and should be happy that you care about your horses enough to ask. Good luck Bette Laurie Durgin wrote: Does anyone know where I can get a document for I think it is a "First Refusal"/or Buy back agreement.? Two people have already contacted me this week about my daughters horse Champ. We may or may not exchange money for him ,as a good home is what I want most. But my daughter would like something that says, before they can give him away or sell him they have to contact us first. Or would a "Free lease" agareement form work better? Basciallly we'd like to make sure he doesn't get dumped someday , starved or at an auction . I know peoples circumstances change, but i'd rather take him back and look again than just let him 'disapear". =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
