Re: [RC] Questiions about Gelding a Colt - Karen Sullivan----- Original Message ----- From: "Beth Bennett" <endurance4me@xxxxxxxxxxx> Hi all, My very first foal (colt) is 5 months old now and I am starting to think about thinking about gelding or not gelding. My husband (who has NEVER neutered anything he owns) thinks that I need to wait a few years to geld him. *I've heard that argument a few times (lets wait a few more years), by someone who never would neuter a cat or dog-yuck. *Well, thats not life on the Sullivan Rancho. Everything male is neutered except the 14 year old son. Even the husband is snipped, althouh he sired some healthy and not too dumb kids, two was enough. I feel like it was a good cross... the kids needed some brains (my side of the family)...and through the infusion of his good strong Irish peasant stock they got some decent bone and vision.. Just leave your husband out of the decision ( mine has no influence on horse decisions) and call the vet!
