Most Bedouin families wouldn't have had very many I suspect because the grazing in much of the peninsula isn't up to having herds of horses. So just like they kept track of their kids, they probably kept track of their horses. We don't brand any horses here either other than the stamps that the EAO and the private studs use. The most that I've seen on camels is markings shaved into the hair.
