[RC] Truck Stop/Rest Stops/Horse Travels - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Jeanne Pepper pepperja@xxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I haven't read all these posts but the ones I read didn't mention my favorite overnite stops,Fair Grounds &Rodeo grounds. My trip to Race of Champs in Colorado was planned around miles we'd cover per day & nearest towns. We called ahead to large towns so they'd expect us & for smaller towns we'd find a local & ask for a rodeo ground or arena. We had no problems finding places to stay overnite & the horses had a stall or paddock(or entire arena ) for the nite. This year for the 2 day trip to Oregon Outback,I planned 6 hours of driving a day(I drove alone)and called ahead to reserve a nite at the fairgrounds in Redbluff. For women travelling alone this works great. They have security & facilities for those, like me who camp rough(back of the truck camper shell). I took a rest stop break near Shasta where the attendent approached me & my horse to tell me where there was"better"grass to graze behind the area. Most people are really nice when you're with the horses on the road. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
