In our case we were told to look at Amish
barn builders (I'm in MD). The Amish builder we had put the barn up in
less than 2 weeks of working time (10 days if that). The only delay was
rain. At most 6 guys worked on the barn, and usually it was just 2 or 3
guys. They came in way lower than anyone else.
We have a metal barn with wooden
stalls. It's a post barn but it's working OK.
OH, the strangest thing was watching them
work. Steve the boss was Amish as were most of the workers. There
was at least one non-Amish guy who drove the pickup truck. They used a
skidloader (driven by Steve), nail guns, drills, saws, cell phones, and all the
other stuff you need for a modern construction site.

If there ever is any question about liability, this
Civil Code may ease the property owners mind.
I had wanted a metal shed row, but my husband
insisted on a raised center aisle barn. I'm so glad he did. I absolutely love it
all year long....nice dry, wind-free, shadey, cooler in summer & warmer in
winter than an outside isle under an overhang would be. Perfect place to
groom, shoe, vet, etc. Another feature that it has, is a low feed door, so
all I have to do is open the little door and drop in a flake or two of hay,
without having to lift it over my head. It's a bottom, corner feeder which can
also be used to put buckets of supplements, mash, grains, etc. Haven't seen
anything better yet. Put up by Royal Stall out of Sanger, CA, and priced a bit
less than Barnmaster.
