I was once told, if at all possible, not to build anything permanent until
you have been on a property through all the seasons. After you know which
way the wind usually blows, how the water flows etc., you may change your
mind as to where you want certain buildings. Maybe some more temporary barns
such as just shelters, and Electric fence until you know where permanent
cross fences would work best.  I know this is not always possible in all
circumstances, but just something to ponder.
