Re: [RC] [RC] Elevator Ride Rules - Lynn Kinsky

One thing I found interesting. The rules do not state that an elevated
rider must do the same trails/same loops in the same order as the
riders that started out in the longer distance. Is that in another
document? Since the elevated rider is not riding for placement in the
longer distance, does it really matter if they do the exact same loops
as the original longer distance riders?

I would take . . . .

held over the same course at the same time

. . . . to mean that both distances are doing the same loops in the early part of the ride, with the longer distance just doing extra loops after the shorter distance is completed. I've been on LDs where we completed at lunch back at camp and then the 50s went out and did another 25 after lunch -- those rides could easily convert to elevators. But at Cinquenta Anos we had the 25s on an almost totally different trail from the 50s (even though they had common vet checks, all away from the finish) -- that ride couldn't have functioned as an elevator ride. The course needs to be planned to allow elevating riders to join the flow of the longer distance seamlessly.
